What Is Tcar Procedure - For patients requiring surgery to address their carotid artery disease, one of the first things to consider is the effect surgery can have on the patient, the patient's body, and most importantly, the patient's brain. While any carotid artery repair carries some risk of stroke caused by the repair itself, Silk Road Medical has developed a procedure that carries the same low stroke rate as the traditional surgical option with a less invasive method that reduces the risk of heart attack, nerve damage and reduces the time required to perform the procedure and the amount of time the average patient has to spend in hospitalization.

Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is a clinically proven treatment option for carotid artery disease. The procedure begins with a small incision just above the collarbone to allow access to the carotid artery (photo A). A sheath (short hollow tube) is then inserted into the carotid artery (figure B). To protect the brain from debris during the procedure, a circuit outside the body directs blood flow away from the brain and back safely to a vein in the leg. This is called "reverse flow" (figure C) and allows the doctor to place a stent (expandable mesh tube) at the site of disease for long-term plaque stabilization and stroke prevention.

What Is Tcar Procedure

TCAR is a patient-friendly endovascular procedure that incorporates the neuroprotective principles of CEA. It uses a system that temporarily reverses blood flow away from the brain, collecting any debris in the device's filter, before returning blood to a vessel in the leg. Once reverse-flow neuroprotection is established, a stent is then implanted into the lesion for long-term plaque stabilization and stroke prevention. TCAR is suitable for patients at increased risk of surgical complications due to age, medical comorbidities or anatomical issues.

Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is a minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of carotid artery disease and the prevention of future strokes. The traditional treatment for blockages in the carotid artery -- the main artery that supplies blood to the brain -- is an open operation called a carotid endarterectomy, but it's dangerous for some patients due to age, anatomy, or other medical conditions. TCAR offers an alternative. Instead of making a long incision in the neck and opening up the carotid artery, the surgeon works through a small incision to stabilize the plaque from inside the artery and restore normal blood flow to the brain.

Carotid Artery Disease

You may be a candidate for TCAR if you have carotid artery disease. Because many patients experience no symptoms in the early stages, your doctor may screen you for the condition if you have risk factors, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, or smoking, or if you have vascular disease elsewhere in your body . By listening to the blood flow in your throat with a stethoscope, your doctor may be able to detect a blockage and then order further tests.

If you experience stroke-like symptoms, you should seek immediate medical attention and be evaluated for carotid artery disease. These symptoms include sudden loss of vision or speech, slurred speech, weakness or numbness on one side of the face or body, and dizziness or fainting.

If carotid artery disease is suspected, these tests are used to confirm the diagnosis and guide further treatment:

What Is Tcar Procedure

TCAR is a minimally invasive procedure. The operation is performed through a much smaller incision and in much less time than the standard open operation.

Dr. Ankur Lodha Is First Cis Physician In Lafayette To Use Innovative Tcar Procedure To Treat Carotid Artery Disease

TCAR takes place in an operating room. After you've been placed under anesthesia, your surgeon will make a small incision in your neck, just above your collarbone. A tube is inserted directly into the carotid artery and then connected to a system that temporarily reverses blood flow away from the brain; this prevents any loose pieces of plaque from reaching the brain and causing a stroke. (Your brain still receives blood from other arteries.) The blood is filtered out of the system and then returned to your body through a second tube connected to a vein in your groin. As blood flow is reversed, a stent (a small expandable tube) is placed in the artery to stabilize the plaque and prevent it from causing a stroke. Once the stent is placed, the surgeon stops the blood flow reversal and blood resumes its flow to the brain.

More than 15,000 TCAR procedures have been performed worldwide, and patient outcome data has been excellent.

Most patients are able to go home the day after the procedure and resume normal activities quickly. Recovery is faster than with traditional surgery, with minimal pain and less scarring.

You will likely be prescribed medicines to prevent blood clots from forming in the newly opened artery. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions for these medicines. As part of follow-up care, your doctor may order a follow-up ultrasound to determine if the stent is working.

If you experience unusual headaches, dizziness, or other unfamiliar symptoms, call the doctor who performed the procedure right away or call 911. An innovative carotid artery procedure called TCAR reverses blood flow to reduce the risk of stroke within the radius of revascularization . It is now performed at Michigan Medicine.

Gordon Ash was expecting his first major operation this summer: a carotid endarterectomy to treat his narrowed carotid artery.

But when a CT scan showed the blockage in his artery was further up the neck than many other patients with carotid artery disease, Ash became the first person at Michigan Medicine to undergo a new treatment.

Tcar: Less Invasive Carotid Artery Disease Solution

TCAR, which stands for transcarotid artery revascularization, uses a device from Silk Road Medical to briefly reverse the direction of blood flow. With blood (and any clots) flowing out of the brain while the doctor operates, the patient's risk of having a stroke during the procedure is lower.

It's a technique developed by Enrique Criado, MD, a former Michigan medical school member, and tested at Michigan Medicine in clinical trials. TCAR was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

"This is a promising treatment, and stroke rates have been reported as low as 1.4 percent in studies," said Nicholas Osborne, MD, Ash's surgeon and assistant professor of surgery at UM. "It's a safer carotid stenting procedure than anything previously proposed."

Osborne describes TCAR as a hybrid of what's already available to treat a narrowed carotid artery, but with a twist.

For Vascular Labs, Accreditation Drives Quality And Objectivity

First, the surgeon takes a small exposure to the carotid artery in the lower neck. After reversing blood flow away from the brain, the surgeon will stent directly from that site, avoiding the risks that come with traveling up the femoral artery, aorta, and up the carotid artery.

When the stent is placed across the TCAR, allowing the carotid artery to function normally, blood flow returns to its normal direction to the brain.

With TCAR, a patient's blood flow is briefly reversed to reduce the risk of stroke during carotid artery surgery.

What Is Tcar Procedure

The procedure was first reported about 14 years ago and the unique nature of the method has appealed to vascular surgeons. The general idea, however, is a familiar one.

Mercy's Vascular Surgeons Perform Innovative Tcar Procedure To Treat Carotid Artery Disease

"In open vascular surgery, it's not unusual for us to let the arteries bleed to wash them out," says Osborne. "This was actively applying that open surgery technique to an endovascular procedure."

"Initially, I expected and wanted the standard endarterectomy procedure," the 62-year-old said. "But Dr. Osborne thought TCAR was a better option for me, so I said, 'Well, that's what we'll do.'"

Typically, surgeons have recommended stenting or endarterectomy to repair the carotid artery. Carotid femoral artery stenting carries a higher risk of stroke, Osborne said, which means it's used less commonly. The wire and the distal shield

The Air Force has denied ongoing negotiations to buy a variant of the Golden Eagle, manufactured by Korea Aerospace Industries. But local sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press, said that the Colombian government had recognized the air force's preference for the South Korean plane and insisted that the talks with the KAI also include Leonardo.

The Italian firm was selected during the competition process and awarded the M-346 advanced jet/lead-in fighter trainer. Competitive participation is intended to help Colombia negotiate the best deal.

Columbia is buying new aircraft to replace its Cessna A-37B Dragonfly twin-engine light attack jets, which were retired in June 2021. They have been used in both counterinsurgency missions and as tactical trainers. The new planes are also expected to temporarily fill a capacity gap left by the aging fleet of the Israeli-made Kaffir jet, Columbia's flagship fighter jet. The Air Force is set to begin retiring its Kefir in 2023, likely with no replacement available.

Armed with ELM-052 active electronically scanned array radars from the Israeli firm Elta Systems and long-range Derby missiles from Israel's Rafale Advanced Defense System, Colombia's Kefirs are among the best operational fighters in South America. But maintenance and operating costs have become prohibitively expensive, limiting flying hours and forcing the Air Force to turn down invitations to international exercises, such as Red Flag in the United States. .

Fort Benning, Ga. (July 11, 2012) -- The Directorate of Emergency Services has a bulletin for all personnel: Do not leave military-issued equipment or high-value items around your privately owned car or truck your

Fort Benning has adopted a policy that prohibits service members deployed here from storing the gear known as TA-50 in parked vehicles or on site. It can be moved for duty requirements but cannot be left unsecured or unsecured.

In addition, soldiers are not allowed to keep large valuables inside their vehicles in plain sight, according to a policy memo distributed June 29. This includes -- but is not limited to -- stereo equipment that is not permanently installed, purses or wallets, tool boxes, cell phones, GPS systems, and portable music or media equipment.

What Is The Cfc

CFCs or chlorofluorocarbons are one of the most dangerous air pollutants imaginable. An air pollutant is released from a cooling device, including refrigerators, air conditioners, and other cooling devices. CFCs are very harmful to us, because they only create a hole in the protective ozone layer in the upper layers of the atmosphere, which helps us prevent the penetration of harmful UV rays and protects us from such harmful radiation.

Nitrous Oxide (n2o): The Dominant Ozone Depleting Substance Emitted In The 21st Century

But since CFCs damage the ozone layer, it becomes difficult for us to protect ourselves from those rays. Halocarbon emitters are the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. The continuous use of these solvents poses a serious threat to the environment. In the absence of strong federal laws on the use of halocarbons, state and local governments and companies can commit to reducing halocarbon emissions. Here we describe policies that governments and users of these pollutants can use to reduce their emissions. These policies include the registration and maintenance of their climate control products and the implementation of other emissions with a low environmental impact.

Halocarbon solvents are widely used in air conditioning, cooling water and solvents. The continuous use and release of these chemicals is a serious problem in the environment. This article discusses the effects of halocarbon emissions, the challenges to reducing the use of halocarbons, and the opportunities that governments and businesses can use to implement policies to reduce reliance on halocarbon solvents in climate control equipment. Policies should be in place to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The United States must therefore coordinate and lead global efforts to use the next generation of solvents.

There are four categories of halocarbon pollutants, including halons, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Halons, CFCs and HCFCs are known to damage the radiation protective ozone in the Earth's stratosphere [1], increasing skin cancer [2]. The ozone depleting potential of HFCs is small. However, like CFCs, HCFCs and halons, HFCs are potent greenhouse gases with 100 to 10,000 times the warming potential of carbon dioxide [3]. HFCs commonly used in refrigerators and air conditioners include pure compounds such as R134a and compounds such as R410a. Emissions are the fastest growing source of greenhouse gases in most parts of the world. Emissions in the US alone have increased by 248% in the last three years[4]. Total halocarbon refrigerant emissions are responsible for 14% of measured global warming during the industrial period[3]. CFCs and HCFCs are responsible for most of this warming. Although the production of CFCs and HCFCs is currently banned, the illegal and illegal use of these refrigerants poses a threat [5, 6]. HFC emissions currently account for less than 1% of global warming. However, the non-emission of HFCs could increase the global temperature by 0.1 C by 2050 and 0.5 C by 2100. This could equate to 12% of the warming caused by carbon dioxide at the same time[7]. In addition, HFC emissions could lead to a 9 cm rise in sea level by 2100[8]. Some of these environmental effects will persist for thousands of years after halocarbon emissions have ceased due to the long-term exchange of heat between the ocean and the atmosphere. [9].

Therefore, a significant reduction of halocarbon emissions is necessary to reduce environmental damage in the coming years. Exceptions to halocarbon solvents are hydrofluoroolefins (HFO) and so-called "natural solvents" such as carbon dioxide, ammonia and propane. These compounds have significantly reduced global warming potential compared to previous halocarbon solvents and are alternative HFCs in mobile, residential and commercial applications and refrigeration applications. Passive cooling options, such as shading or increased ventilation, can reduce refrigerant demand in many situations.

Investigation Of East Asian Emissions Of Cfc 11 Using Atmospheric Observations In Taiwan

Solvent emissions occur during the lifetime of the solvents (Figure 1). These divisions include (1) refrigeration and loading of primary equipment, (2) manufacturing of equipment, and (3) finishing of equipment. Although most emissions occur during production and disposal, policies can direct the reduction of halocarbon emissions at each stage of the life cycle [10, 11]. Figure 1 shows the best practices that governments and businesses can use to reduce hydrocarbon emissions. These policies involve two strategies. First, leaks can be reduced with current technologies that reduce the release of refrigerant when the equipment is in operation. Second, governments and businesses can reduce emissions of halocarbons by reducing their use. Here we discuss the main challenges and opportunities of both approaches, explaining best practices and solutions that companies can use to reduce emissions.

Solvent regulations are established by international treaties that prohibit the use of hydrocarbon solvents. The Montreal Protocol of 1987 established an international schedule for the phase-out of the production of halons, CFCs and HCFCs. Despite this work ban, emissions from black market equipment and leaks from existing equipment and refrigerant stocks continue to worsen the climate and delay the recovery of the Antarctic Zone Hole[5, 12]. The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol is designed to reduce the climate impact of HFC emissions by achieving an 80% reduction in HFC use by 2047. Despite the requirement Despite international, business, and bipartisan support, the US Senate failed to ratify the Kigali Amendment. . Federal efforts to reduce HFC use have been weakened by court rulings and industry actions. In 2017, Obama raised restrictions on the use of HFCs in large industrial applications such as mobile air conditioners and grocery stores. In addition, the Trump EPA announced plans to repeal the Clean Air Act regulations that prohibit the release of HFCs during the processing and disposal of equipment[14]. Despite the federal government's inaction, 23 states have passed legislation or are considering regulations to phase out the use of HFCs and use alternative solvents such as HFO.[15] . Uncertainty in the direction of federal and state regulations is hindering efforts by businesses, industries, and local governments to reduce halocarbon refrigerant use and emissions.

Figure 1: Ways to reduce halocarbon emissions. Policies can focus on two ways to reduce halocarbon emissions: (1) maintaining and reducing leakage in existing equipment and (2) reducing the using halocarbons. Regulations may mandate or encourage the reduction of environmental damage. Offset loans can add or replace certain rules. For example, companies may require fees if the use of recycled refrigerants is not required. If regulations prohibit the production of new gas, companies can claim offset credits by destroying the gas after it is released. To finance green businesses, financing procedures can finance projects with a net present value (NPV) calculation, while research and development pilot studies can supporting plans with poor current market value.

What Is The Cfc

In the absence of federal regulations, state and local governments and businesses enjoy broad discretion in deciding how best to reduce the use of hydrocarbon emissions. Policies that encourage voluntary reductions bring environmental, educational, and financial benefits to companies that reduce their emissions of hydrocarbon emissions. Educational institutions can require effective guidance and inform students about best practices for quantifying and reducing their environmental impact. The company can create new markets for other solvents. Organizations can improve their public image, reduce their negative effects, and increase awareness of their business value by increasing their efforts to reduce the use of halocarbon solvents and emissions. Finally, states and local governments can change policies to reduce halocarbon emissions over time to save money and the environment for their constituents.

What Is The Combined Federal Campaign? > Joint Base San Antonio > News

As discussed below, there are significant social, technical, financial, and public health issues associated with these policies. However, the reasons behind these problems are also key to the needs of policies to reduce hydrocarbon emissions. There are technical difficulties; but there are opportunities for innovation and the development of new businesses. There is uncertainty in the administration; but it's also an opportunity to plan for future reform. It doesn't have to be expensive in the short term; but governments and companies can define a new environmental standard that is driven by care and effort rather than profit. To maximize each of these potential benefits, we outline best practices, regulations, and industry commitments that can be taken to reduce halocarbon emissions. This includes measures to reduce leakage and eliminate the use of halocarbon solvents by adopting substitutes with a lower environmental impact.

“The mission of the USO is to strengthen our military families by keeping them together, so this (event) is just one of many repetitions. As you know, our families are separated, either by deployment or training. Anytime we can bring them together as a family, that's what these events are for,” Hubbard said.

About 20 USO volunteers were setting things up behind the scenes and up front. They helped set up booths, set up decorations, sound systems, hand out snacks or backpacks, and check people in. At each station, volunteers donned birthday hats.

For USO Fort Hood events, visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/USOFortHood. Before America entered World War II in 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt called for the consolidation of several service associations into one organization to boost our military's morale and provide support on the home front. These entities—the Salvation Army, the Young Men's Christian Association, the Young Women's Christian Association, National Catholic Community Services, the National Travelers' Aid Association, and the National Jewish Welfare Board—became the United Service Organizations, or USOs. These organizations are now represented by the six stars on the USO logo.

For seven decades, the USO has continued to support our nation's military and their families. Today's military members need the care, comfort, connection and support that can only be provided by an organization that is with them every step of their military journey, no matter where or under what conditions they serve. The USO is constantly adapting to the needs of our men and women in uniform and the needs of their families so they can focus on their important mission.

The USO remains dedicated to expanding access to USO centers and programs around the world, increasing annual service connections, and increasing transition services for our service members and their families during deployment. With more than 230 physical USO locations around the world, the USO has the reach and ability to provide critical programs and services to the entire military community. Our service members in all corners of the world know that the USO is always by their side.

What Is Tbi Awareness - Each year, an estimated 1.5 million Americans have a TBI, and the 230,000 survivors have long-lasting, life-altering effects. Approximately 30,000 brain injuries occur in Kentucky each year, and thousands experience long-term disability after a brain injury. The needs of victims and their families can vary greatly depending on the severity and type of brain injury. According to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), there are two types of acquired brain injuries: traumatic and non-traumatic.

1) Traumatic brain injury: TBI is defined as a change in brain function caused by an external force or other evidence of brain pathology. Traumatic impact injuries can be defined as closed (or non-duration) or open (duration). Traumatic brain injuries are most often caused by:

Regardless of the type of brain injury, a person with a suspected problem should call 911, go to the emergency room, or contact a doctor immediately.

After a blow or injury to the head, a person may experience a variety of symptoms. BIAA recognizes the common symptoms of brain damage:

When a person is brought to the emergency room with a suspected head injury, doctors learn as much as possible about their symptoms and how the injury occurred. A person's condition is quickly assessed to determine the extent of the injury using a 15-point test to assess the patient's level of consciousness called the Glasgow Coma Score (GCS).

A traumatic brain injury can happen when the head is hit, jerked suddenly, or hit by a foreign object, such as a bodily injury caused by a car accident. Motor vehicle and traffic injuries are the leading cause of TBI deaths. Prices are highest for adults aged 20–24. Most car accident victims have a combination of brain injuries, such as:

In addition, whiplash can occur when the neck and head are suddenly forced backward and then forward, causing the cervical spine to undergo too rapid movements and extremely rapid strain. Most whiplash is caused by rear-end crashes, but it can also be caused by a side impact or a T-bone collision. A severe whiplash can cause changes in the brain and surrounding structures that trigger a brain hemorrhage or life-threatening concussion, resulting in either chronic or debilitating pain or a potential source of death. These types of injuries often require extended treatment or invasive surgeries that take months of rehabilitation and recovery time.

We know all too well the catastrophic effects of a severe brain injury and the lifelong medical and therapeutic needs of a TBI survivor. United Service Organizations Inc. Although a congressional charter, it is not a government agency.

Founded during World War II, the USO wanted to be the GI's "home away from home" and established a tradition of troop support and social amenities. Joining the USO was one of the many ways the nation came together to support the war effort, and nearly 1.5 million people volunteered in some way. The USO initially disbanded in 1947, but was revived in 1950 due to the Korean War and continued to provide peacetime services. During the Vietnam War, USO social facilities ("USOs") were sometimes located in combat zones.

The organization has become particularly known for its live performances, the so-called camp shows, through which the tertainmt industry helps boost the morale of servicem and wom. In the early days, Hollywood was eager to show its patriotism, and many celebrities joined the USO tertainers. They work as volunteers, and celebrities continue to volunteer at military bases in the United States and overseas, sometimes putting their own lives in danger by traveling or appearing in dangerous situations. In 2011, the USO received the National Medal of Arts.

The USO has more than 200 locations worldwide in 14 countries (including the United States) and 27 states. At the USO's 75th Anniversary Gala in 2016, Army G. George W. Casey Jr. estimated

The USO was founded in 1941 by Mary Ingraham at the request of President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide morale and recreational services to United States military personnel in uniform. Roosevelt was elected honorary president. This request united six NGOs: the Salvation Army, the YMCA, the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), the National Catholic Community Service, the National Traveler Aid Association and the National Jewish Welfare Board. They were brought together under one umbrella to support American forces, as opposed to operating independently as some did during the First World War. Roosevelt said he wanted "those private organizations to handle vacation recreation in the armed forces." According to historian Emily Yellin, "The government would build the buildings, and the USO would raise private funds to fulfill its main mission: boosting military morale."

The first national campaign chairman was Thomas Dewey, who raised $16 million in the first year. The second president, Prescott Bush, was a future tentpole.

The USO club was a place to go to dances and socializing, movies and music, a quiet place to talk or write a note home or a free cup of coffee and an egg.

The USO also brought in Hollywood celebrities and volunteers for the troops. According to film historian Stev Cohan, "most of all ... when she was brought home on the road, it equated the nation with show business. USO camp shows were designed to remind soldiers of home." He noted that they did this by "promoting patriotic identification with America in troops throughout the populated tertainmt."

An article in Look magazine at the time stated, "While the show is on, m are tak directly to the familiar Main Street, every struggling American goal away from home." Maxe Andrews wrote: "He brought the tertainm home to the boys. Their home." Actor George Raft declared at the beginning of the war: "Now it is up to us to bring here and abroad the real, living tertainmt, the songs, dances and laughter they heard at home."

The history of the USO camp shows belongs to the American people because their contributions made it possible. It is an important part of the life of your sons, brothers, husbands and lovers.[9]

In 2011, the USO was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama for its "contributions to lifting the spirits of American troops and their families through the arts."

After it was founded in 1941 in response to the Second World War, "centers quickly emerged ... in churches, barns, railway cars, museums, castles, beach clubs and cabins."

Most cter offer recreational activities such as dances and movies. And there was the famous free coffee and donuts. Some USO grounds provided opportunities for a quiet mother to spend time alone or write a letter home, while others offered spiritual guidance and childcare for military wives.

However, the organization became best known for its live performances called Camp Shows, through which the tertainmt industry helped to stimulate the service and the woman. USO Camp Shows, Inc. began in October 1941,

And by that fall and winter there were 186 military theaters in the United States. Overseas shows began in November 1941 with the Caribbean cruise.

Flying Showboat was the first revue. A team of show business professionals toured US military bases in the Caribbean. It featured Chico Marx, comedians Laurel and Hardy, singer Jane Picks, dancer Ray Bolger and actor John Garfield, who served as master of ceremonies. These stars performed in extremely trying conditions, as the weather was brutally hot and many camps were unable to hold theatrical performances. Chico, who had a penchant for "shoot the keys" piano solos, was often without a piano. Luckily, Laurel and Hardy's Driver's Lyceum sketch only required a few simple props. In any case, this year's hottest shows drew loud cheers from the teams, happy to have someone perform for them, not to mention Hollywood's finest.

Within five months, 36 overseas units were established in America, the United Kingdom and Australia, and by 1942 1,000 were operating as part of 70 units. Average performers were paid $100 a week; the top stars were paid $10 a day because their wealth allowed them to contribute more.

After the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, Edward G. Robinson was the first movie star to travel to Normandy to join the troops.

At home he was already actively selling war bonds and donated $100,000 to the USO. During her show, she said: "This is the most privileged mother of my life, the opportunity to be here with you."

By the fall of 1944, overseas units contained five or fewer artists; Barretts in Wimpole Street, which used local theaters in France and Italy, was the first to use a tire theater company, including the scree.

At its peak in 1944, the USO had more than 3,000 clubs and 700 USO shows a day. The fundraising efforts of the USO are controversial. An MGM film, Mr. Gardia Jones, made to help the USO's fundraising campaign, was almost pulled from theaters over War Department protests, mainly because soldiers jumped for joy at the chance to shower and rest. in overstuffed and comfortable USO chairs. The military, noted the New York Times, "feels that this is not good for morale because it means there are no showers or other facilities for soldiers in military camps." The film stars Ronald Reagan, an Army Air Force captain.

How To Define (in History)

Tertainmt groups outside the USO also helped with the fundraiser. Military shows were common, where the troops, often skilled actors and musicians, organized and held their own performances. The Army formed a special service unit that organized such shows and accompanied the USO, and the experience of the Soldier Show led to Irving Berlin's Broadway show This Is the Army. Performers and writers were recruited from the army for the production; soldiers stayed and continued the exercises. Berlin, who wrote and produced the similar World War I film Yip, Yip, Yaphank, took the 165-person band on a European tour in 1942, raising nearly $10 million for the Army Relief Fund. The following year, the show was made into a movie of the same title, again starring Ronald Reagan.
